Julian Guy is a Principal Innovation Manager at Safran Seats GB and a Chartered Engineer with an MSc in Electronics & Information Technology. He brings over two decades of experience in advanced technology development across the commercial aerospace sector, with a particular focus on the integration of emerging digital and immersive systems.

Julian specialises in electrical architectures, communications, and embedded systems, with expertise spanning lighting, vibration, acoustics, and passenger experience technologies. His current work increasingly focuses on the application of Edge AI, enabling intelligent, real-time data processing and enhanced system autonomy within aircraft cabin environments.

He has extensive experience in developing open architectures, electronic systems, and simulation platforms, and in integrating these into complex aerospace products. Julian plays a key role in guiding technology programmes through the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) framework, ensuring innovations mature with rigorous engineering discipline and are successfully transitioned from research and technology into production.

Throughout his career -spanning 17 years in telecommunications and 21 years in aerospace—Julian has held roles across project engineering, certification, systems engineering, and aftermarket support. This breadth of experience positions him uniquely to bridge innovation and industrialisation, accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies such as Edge AI within safety-critical applications.

Recognised for his collaborative leadership and technical depth, Julian works across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder groups to deliver high-impact solutions that enhance passenger experience and create tangible value for the business.
