John Farn-Ramsay

Principal Engineer - Vehicle Dynamics, Lotus Cars

John Farn-Ramsay is Principal Engineer – Vehicle Dynamics at Lotus Cars, with responsibility for the development and delivery of the dynamic character of Lotus sports cars, including the Evija and the new, critically acclaimed Lotus Emira 420 Sport.

A vehicle dynamics engineer and expert vehicle assessor, John began his career at Lotus after graduating with a BSc in Motorsport Technology and completing the Lotus graduate development programme. His career has been dedicated to high-performance vehicle development, including periods with Bentley and Hyundai N, before returning to Lotus.

John combines deep technical expertise in vehicle dynamics with extensive high-performance driving and assessment experience. His work spans the complete development process: translating the desired character of a vehicle into programme, system, sub-system and component targets, before bringing those elements together through simulation, objective development and expert subjective assessment.

Today, John applies this approach to the future of Lotus sports cars as well as confidential engineering programmes for Lotus Engineering clients and partners, with a particular focus on creating cars that are not simply fast, but communicative, engaging and rewarding to drive.
