John Bovis
As a member of the PCN, John Bovis is the founder of Project Innovations Ltd, a UK plastics consultancy specialising in new product development and the redevelopment of existing products. With over 40 years in the industry, from process technologist and R&D through to senior technical and development management, John pairs hard-won shop-floor knowledge with a data-driven approach. Design for manufacture, Moldflow and Moldex3D simulation, FEA and CFD are used to prove a design before steel is cut, so risk is designed out early rather than discovered in production. The results are on record: new products to market in six weeks at 30% of the previous cost with 86% higher run rates, a 26-tool programme delivered right first time, a defence programme tooled and in production within 14 weeks, and a medical device taken through ISO 13485, CE marking and FDA 510(k) documentation.
That depth is matched by breadth. John has managed complex programmes from both sides of the supply chain: Tier 1 automotive launches for Land Rover and Jaguar, eight or more machine-build projects across the UK and Europe in 18 months, and a production line specified to lift a customer's output from 10M to c.35M units a year. Whether the need is a new product, a redesign for cost, lightweighting or efficiency, or a larger project needing hands-on management, clients get one experienced point of contact who understands the material, the tool, the process and the business case. Lean and change management support is available to make improvements stick.
