Alexia Williams MBE

Chartered Engineer, Rolls-Royce

Alexia began her career as an Aerospace Engineering Degree Apprentice at Rolls-Royce, combining academic study with hands-on industry experience. Progressing from Apprentice to Technical Lead in just six years, she became a Chartered Engineer with the IET at the age of 25, demonstrating the impact that apprenticeships can have in developing highly skilled engineers and future industry leaders. Her career has been recognised through almost 30 national and regional awards, including Apprentice of the Year, Engineer of the Year and Skills Champion of the Year, and in 2026 she was awarded an MBE for services to education and skills.

Alongside her engineering career, Alexia is actively shaping the future of skills and engineering talent across the UK. She is a Trustee of Enginuity, Non-Executive Director of EAL, Chair of the MAKE UK Future Makers Group and former Chair of the Skills England Apprentice Panel. Through these roles and her extensive STEM outreach, she champions apprenticeships as a powerful route into engineering careers and works to address the UK’s skills gap by improving access, recruitment and retention of diverse talent.

Drawing on her own journey from Apprentice to Chartered Engineer and technical leader, Alexia is a passionate advocate for creating a more inclusive engineering profession, particularly through improving opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in STEM. She is recognised as one of the UK’s leading emerging voices on apprenticeships, skills development and the future of engineering.
