Dr Alex Goodhand is Space Manufacturing Lead at the Satellite Applications Catapult, working across advanced manufacturing, robotics and in-space servicing, assembly and manufacturing. His work focuses on turning emerging technologies into practical engineering capability, with a particular focus on robotic assembly, in-space manufacturing and the technologies needed to build and service structures beyond Earth.

Alex began his engineering career as a mechanical fitting apprentice before progressing through a degree in Mechanical Engineering and completing a PhD focused on additive manufacturing and functionally graded composite materials. This route from the workshop floor through research and into the space sector continues to shape his practical approach to engineering, manufacturing and technology development.
