Founded in 1956 Roband Electronics is an independent British company offering unparalleled service in the design and manufacture of custom Power Supplies. Our ethos has always been for self-sufficiency, meaning we design everything ourselves and manufacture virtually everything on site. Typically a project starts with the issue of a specification, whether in draft or rather more mature form. Working in a collaborative manner, we try to ensure our unit becomes part of an optimal overall system rather than just thinking of it as a piece part in isolation. Once basic design concepts are agreed upon, we manufacture prototype(s) (A models). Essentially engineering models, these allow proof of concept and integration trials with your equipment. Once such trials are successfully concluded we transition through any necessary updates and then manufacture ‘B models’. These items are under full change note control and are to all intents and purposes equivalent to the final production unit. The B models are used for on-site environmental and EMC testing, as well as full qualification if required. Once fully tested and qualified, production can commence. We conduct formal design reviews in line with our AS9100/ISO9100 QMS and customers are invited to attend. We also conduct a series of formal and informal progress updates with our customers ensuring you are kept up to date. We encourage less formal dialogue outside of the regular and pre-planned submissions.
Our capabilities include design, wound component manufacture, PCB assembly, conformal coating, metalwork, finishing, encapsulation, vibration test, thermal chambers, EMC test and independent quality assurance operation to ISO14001 and AS9100/ISO9100. Being virtually self-sufficient uniquely allows us to simultaneously ensure quality and set priorities.
In addition, we always provide whole life support for our units. We currently still repair and remanufacture units originally designed as long ago as the 1960s. We also offer other services such as build to print, repair and support of third-party products, obsolescence management, and drop-in replacements.
