Enhancing security in high RPM applications

Rotational capacity requirements in modern applications are higher than ever — shafts in electric vehicle applications can now reach 15,000 rpm (revolutions per minute) or more. Frequency control specialist, Euroquartz is to launch a new range of UK manufactured surface mount clock oscillators capable of up to 3000G shock survivability with extended industrial temperature range at the forthcoming Engineering Design Show (EDS 2021, October 19th & 20th, Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry, UK). The new components are being manufactured in the company’s class 7 cleanroom facility and frequencies are available from 2.0 to 60MHz.

Hamamatsu Photonics has developed a palm-sized FTIR engine capable of highly sensitive detection of near-infrared light at wavelengths ranging from 1.1 to 2.5 micrometers.

By applying its own unique microelectro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, Hamamatsu Photonics have successfully developed a palm-sized “Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) engine C15511-01” offering high sensitivity to near-infrared light at wavelengths from 1.1 to 2.5 micrometers (abbreviated to μm: μ is one millionth).

Revolutionary range of Piezoelectric Motors

DTI is launching a revolutionary range of Piezoelectric Motors. The Blue Series motors offer the accuracy of Piezo motion at the price of a quality stepper motor solution. Rotary motors offer over 250,000 steps per revolution at full torque whereas Linear versions offer 50 nanometer increments. These direct drive ultrasonic standing wave motors require zero power to hold position without drifting and at slow speeds require under 1 watt, offering very low overall power demand.
